Happy New Year 2026: Let make he Year of the Empowered Citizen – From Awareness to Action

As the sun rises on 2026, the Public Right Action Network (PRAN) finds itself reflecting not just on the year that has passed, but on the evolving landscape of rights and justice in India.
2025 was a year of resilience and critical victories. From the CCPA’s crackdown on "default" service charges in restaurants to the Bombay High Court’s landmark ruling on public safety and stray animal feeding, we witnessed a clear truth: when citizens are informed, systems are forced to listen.
However, we also know that laws on paper do not automatically translate to justice on the ground. Awareness is the first step, but enforcement is the goal.
Our Vision for 2026: Making Law Work for You
Our mission remains clear: Empowering People. Strengthening Rights. Advancing Public Interest.
In the coming year, PRAN is moving beyond general awareness to focused action, bridging the gap between "law in books" and "justice in real life." We are dedicating our resources to three critical pillars of public interest:
1. Consumer Rights & Market Justice
We will continue to fight against "default billing" practices, misleading ads, and unfair trade practices in insurance and e-commerce. The recent ₹50,000 penalty on a Mumbai dining chain was just the beginning. In 2026, we aim to empower you to challenge every unfair rupee you are asked to pay.
2. Public Health & Safety
Whether it is advocating for stricter Tobacco Control, enforcing accountability in Road Crashes, or ensuring child safety in transport, PRAN will stand with citizens who prioritize community well-being over negligence.
3. Governance & Accountability
From exposing municipal failures to utilizing the RTI Act for transparency, we are committed to helping citizens navigate the system and demand the services they are entitled to.
Let’s Build Something Together
Justice is a collaborative effort. Over the last two decades, I have seen that the biggest changes happen when lawyers, citizens, and organizations work together. PRAN is opening its doors for deeper partnerships in 2026:
For NGOs & Civil Society: We provide the legal research, policy briefs, and advocacy strategies needed to give your campaigns a solid backbone.
For Communities & Groups: We offer guidance on drafting legally compliant resolutions for safety and order.
For Individuals: If you are navigating a complex legal issue, our consultancy services are here to provide the clarity you need.
